The goal of Prime Time Palm Beach County’s Professional Development Department is to empower out-of-school time (OST) practitioners to create safe, supportive and welcoming environments, encourage positive social interactions and engage youth through providing them with professional development trainings, incentives and scholarships for continuing education to gain certificates and degrees. Prime Time works towards this goal by supporting the development, administration and delivery of professional development trainings serving afterschool practitioners, assistant directors, directors and other staff. In addition, Prime Time offers career advising to help practitioners navigate credit or non-credit pathways at Palm Beach State College, as well as scholarships and incentives as they progress.

The mission of Prime Time’s Professional Development Department is to develop and deliver the highest quality continuing education professional development trainings to out-of-school time staff.

All trainings offered by Prime Time Palm Beach County are completely voluntary.

Prime Time is happy to announce the availability of language translation support during virtual Zoom trainings via captions (also called subtitles).

Zoom translated captions enable users to have the speech in a meeting or webinar automatically translated in real-time to captions in another language. For example, if a meeting participant is speaking in English, other participants can view captions in Spanish, French, Japanese, etc.

You can request support with enabling these captions during virtual trainings.

Prime Time’s newly designed training calendar now provides professional learning targeted to address specific needs that may arise as you progress through the regular school year and into your summer programming.

We are now offering four training themes throughout the 2024-2025 training season with learning opportunities that are aligned to each quarterly theme.

Quarterly Training Themes

  • August - October: Launching a New School Year

  • May - July: Soaring Into Summer

**Our training calendar below features a new tab for the current theme.

Site Based Trainings

We will come to you! Before making a request, please review our list of already scheduled online and in-person training sessions. If your desired training is offered on the main calendar, encourage all your staff to attend. If you would like our professional development specialists to come to your program site and provide a specialized learning experience, program directors can choose from our catalog of learning progressions or a training series.

Learning Progressions

  • Planning Learning Progression (2 sessions)
  • Reflection Learning Progression (2 sessions)
  • Planning and Reflection Progression (4 sessions)
  • Cooperative Learning Progression (3 sessions)

Training Series

  • Restorative Practices (4 sessions)

In between sessions, participants must complete and submit a homework assignment or a training artifact. A site visit and/or coaching session may also be required.

Regional Trainings

Regional trainings are monthly in-person trainings hosted at a specific program site in Pam Beach County. A list of training themes has been chosen to enhance experiential and participatory learning, such as Managing Emotions, Cultivating Empathy, Power of the Arts, Growth Mindset, and more.
